Brands: I am a prolific blogger, writer, and photographer with a brain that storms with different ideas non-stop almost 24/7 and so my brands, my blogs and web sites, span the spectrum of subjects, all reflecting my different interests, hobbies, and causes: from rural and wilderness conservation in conjunction with smart growth and development, exemplified by The Eastern Sierra Advocate, to cultural diversity and history as exemplified by Ethnic America, Nostra Voce, and The Italian Californian, to photography as exemplified by Chris M. Forte-Golden State Photography. They are my hopes that one, if not all of these blogs and sites take off and become a profitable career and business as well as becoming a vehicle for helping in the advancement of those causes. In anticipation of having an officially-recognized business, and to streamline networking, marketing, and communications, I have decided to unite all my brands under the DBA of The C. Forte Company.
To make a very long story short, I lived in and traveled all over California and a few parts beyond and enjoy both the city and the country. I enjoy exploring old mines and ghost towns, hiking in the mountains and forests, but also savoring the sights and sounds of the big city, like strolling the Embarcadero here in my home of San Diego eating pizza outside along the water of the bay while watching the lights come on in the skyline. When I see a great vista I just feel I must capture it and share it with others.
Growing up mostly in Southern California, a region blessed with natural, rural, and urban beauty, but constantly under siege by rapid population growth and resulting urban and suburban sprawl, I have seen too much of the open space and farmland I enjoyed as a kid paved over. While I know that some "progress" is good and that we can't live in the past forever, there is a way we can accommodate population growth while conserving our last remaining rural and natural spaces and heritage in California and places beyond.
Along those lines, other than sharing incredible views I witness and making a profit off of the sell of my photos, I am also using my photography to be a visual record for posterity of those natural and rural areas that are under threat of development, to encourage others to get involved in natural and farmland conservation, and promise to use a percentage of all and any sales toward supporting worthwhile organizations involved in that cause, including but not limited to The Nature Conservancy in California, The Wildlands Conservancy, American Farmland Trust/California Office, and many others.
